Capture One Tutorial.
Copying settings across several photos.

Certain adjustments are generally valid for all the photos in the same session, particularly when working in a studio: white balance correction, choice of input curve, correction of a lens fault, etc. Removing dust from the sensor also falls into this category of defects to be corrected on all photos. Conversely, other settings are difficult to transpose: removing a button from a face, for example.
When it is necessary to apply the same setting to several photos, we should first point out the great importance of the button,
located on the right-hand side of the toolbar in the standard configuration.
When this button is activated (in orange), many adjustments are immediately applied to all the photos selected in the browser.

Other settings need to be adjusted first on a single photo, and then copied to a series of photos. Capture One offers several quick and easy solutions for repeating one or more adjustments on a series of photos. However, these methods can seem unorthodox, which can lead to difficulties when using them. In this tutorial, we look at two methods, the first more suitable for copying a single adjustment, and the second more practical for for copying a whole series of settings.
Useful for reproducing the same setting across a whole group of photos (e.g. exposure compensation).
Recommended when all the settings need to be reproduced on some or all photos.
Method 1: copy certain settings.
In the example below, the 3 photos selected clearly have a white balance problem. The photographer probably didn't pay enough attention when taking the shot. You can bet that all the photos in the session will have the same problem. Here's how to correct this problem without wasting time.

Once you have clicked on the first image, there are several ways of selecting subsequent images:
- Hold down the CTRL key and click to add an image.
- Hold down the SHIFT key and click to add one or several images.
- Press CTRL A to select all the images.
Click on the Color
tool tab.

Make the desired setting.
In our example, this involves setting the mode
parameter of the white balance
tool to "Flash".
We can see that only one of the photos is modified by this setting.
To apply this setting to all the selected photos, click on the button located on the title bar of the white balance tool,
and click on the
Copy
button.
Now click on the Apply
button to reproduce the setting on all the selected photos.
The white balance tool has only one setting, so the window above shows only one option. But most Capture One tools have several settings.
To go faster, use the keyboard keys in combination with the button:
- Hold down the ALT key and click the
button (copy settings).
- Hold down the SHIFT key and click the same
button again (apply settings).
We have used the example of a white balance setting, but virtually any setting can be duplicated using this method.

- The shortcuts shown in this tutorial are for Windows. Equivalent shortcuts exist on the Macintosh version of Capture One.
Be careful not to confuse the Shift key with the Lock key. The keys used in this tutorial are shown in this image
Method 2: copying all the settings.
With this second method, we're going to reproduce all the settings for one photo on all or some of the other photos.

First solution:
Choose from the toolbar.
Then click on the image you have just set, either in the main window or in the browser 4.

Secund solution:
Settings / Copy settings
or the keyboard shortcut CTRL SHIFT C
to copy the settings to the clipboard.

Select the other photos to which the settings are to be applied and use the menu
Settings / Apply settings
or the keyboard shortcut
CTRL SHIFT V.
